Convex and Concave - M.C. Escher

Convex and Concave

1955, Lithograph

Convex and Concave is one of the many works that truly show Escher’s mastery of illusion. This scene features an array of staircases, archways, windows and doors, all of which flow together in impossible ways and positions. Depending on how the viewer perceives the work, pieces can also be seen as either convex shapes or concave impressions.
