Metamorphosis II

1940, Woodcut in black, green and brown

Metamorphosis II is a woodcutting that features designs that morph from one to another. Starting with black and white stripes, the images morph into black and white boxes; then lizards; hexagons; a honeycomb; bees; fish; birds; three-dimensional cubes; a cityscape; a game of chess; a series of black and white boxes, and finally ending in black and white stripes.
